North Lake - North Fork State Wildlife Area

North Lake is located on the Scenic Highway of Legends, about 40 miles west of Triniad. It was constructed in 1907 to create a water supply for the City of Trinidad.

North Lake is also a state wildlife area and and is stocked with rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout; kokanee salmon; and splake. The lake has a boat ramp (Craft may be propelled only by hand, wind, or electric motor), restrooms, and parking area.

Cities and Towns near North Lake - North Fork State Wildlife Area

Cuchara.  Cuchara, Colorado is situated on the eastern slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the heart of the Cucharas River Valley.

Segundo.  Segundo was once the largest coal processing center west of Chicago, boasting 800 coking ovens.

Stonewall.  Stonewall is a village located at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains on Highway 12.

Weston.  Weston, a village of spectacular scenery and rich history, is located about 20 miles west of Trinidad on Highway 12.
