Spanish Peaks State Wildlife Area

This State Wildlife Area is actually composed of two pieces. These directions lead to the western piece. The eastern piece is accessed from Upper Burro Canyon by going through Bon Carbo. There are also signs at the southern end of Sarcillo Canyon that point to both sections of the Wildlife Area.

Aguilar is situated in the heart of the Apishapa River Valley in south central Colorado, midway between Trinidad and Walsenburg.

Cokedale.  Once a model coal/coke mining community, Cokedale is named after the nearby rows of coke ovens. The town was founded in 1906 .
